For Boss’s Day, we wanted to celebrate the person who started it all—and rather than tell you her story ourselves, we thought it would be better to let her tell it.
Because the truth is, Sarah never set out to become a boss.
She just wanted to make a little extra vacation money.
And somehow, that little side gig became Tech OG.
Here’s the story, in her own words:
I never set out to be a boss. I just wanted to make a little extra vacation money!
It all started during COVID, when the world was upside down and everything felt a little surreal. What began as a small side gig to fund some family adventures somehow turned into something I never imagined—Tech OG!
One project turned into another, opportunities kept coming, and before I knew it, I was running a business and building a team of incredibly talented professionals. And honestly, with everything going on in the world at the time, the whole experience felt a bit like a fever dream!
With absolutely zero training in management or running a business, I’ve been figuring things out as I go (and still am!). One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that being a good boss doesn’t mean having all the answers. It means surrounding yourself with great people, trusting their expertise, leaning on them when you need to, and recognizing that success is a team effort.
Entrepreneurship wasn’t exactly the plan, but sometimes the best things in life happen when you least expect them.
I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built and grateful for the amazing people who have helped make it happen!
More Than a Business
What started unexpectedly has grown into a women-owned consulting firm supporting the energy industry through geologic and engineering solutions, regulatory compliance, data management, technical systems, and strategic consulting.
But Tech OG isn’t just the work we do. It’s the people behind it.
Sarah’s approach to leadership has helped create a team where everyone’s expertise matters. She doesn’t pretend to have every answer—and she doesn’t expect anyone else to either. Instead, she trusts the people around her to bring their knowledge, experience, and perspective to the table.
That kind of leadership creates room for people to grow, contribute, and do what they do best!
Happy Boss’s Day, Sarah
We’re incredibly proud of what you’ve built and endlessly thankful for your trust in our team—giving us opportunities to grow and reminding us that success is not a one-person effort.
Happy Boss’s Day to our founder, our leader, and the woman who accidentally started Tech OG!
