How do I submit a request for engineering support?

You can submit a request any time through our contact form. Just provide a few project details and our team will follow up.

What is the response time for support requests?

Our typical response time is 1–3 business days, depending on the nature of the request.

What information is needed for an engineering support request?

Helpful details include the well or facility name, location (API, UWI, GPS, etc.), a brief description of your request, and any relevant files such as drawings, reports, or photos.

What software tools do you support for diagrams?

We support a variety of tools for diagram generation, including WellShadow, WellView, Excel, and Visio.

Do you track support metrics or provide reports?

Yes, all projects are designed by client needs. All work is regularly tracked and can be tailored to the client’s desired frequency.

How long does it take to abandon a well?

Depending on the current condition of the well it can range anywhere from 3 months to over one year for final letters of abandonment. This largely dependent on the permit response times of the individual government agencies.

What is the bond amount for a typical well in California?

The typical bond amount in California is $25,000 for an individual well with a total vertical depth (TVD) of less than 10,000 feet.

Have you ever had a well that could not be abandoned, if so, what was the outcome?

Yes, there are some wells that for various reasons cannot be abandoned. CalGEM has a specific process for handling such situations and each one is unique.

What software do you use for Decision Quality Analysis?

We use DTrio, TreeTop, and Excel for Decision Quality Analysis, depending on project scope.
